Penfolds Grange is universally regarded as Australia's greatest wine, both locally and internationally. It is also regarded as one of the great wines of the world. First produced as an experimental wine in the early 1950's, it has a long track record of quality and aging ability.
Though now not alone in its status as a "world-class" Australian wine (Henschke Hill of Grace shiraz, Cullen Diana Madeline cabernet merlot and Leeuwin Estate Art Series chardonnay, plus many others now populate this list), it remains Australia's most talked about and sought after red wine.
Penfolds Grange shiraz is also known as Grange Hermitage and Penfolds Bin 95.
