About us

North Sydney Cellars | Drink better wine
  • Founded by Ben Ryan and David Cochran who met during a brief stint as managers at Theo's Liquor Market.
  • Established Northpoint Cellars as one of Sydney's first corporate liquor specialists.
  • In 1995 Northpoint Cellars merged with Hyde Park Cellars in the MLC Building and the combined business was renamed North Sydney Cellars.
  • A complete refurbishment in 1999 led to Sydney's first tasting bar and the start of the popular Winemaker Tasting Program which allows our clients to meet some of the best winemakers in the industry about 20 times a year.
  • Along the way Julian "Jules" Gutierrez and Meg Morrison joined the team.
  • In November 2007 we moved into a refurbished Commonwealth Bank branch at the corner of Miller and Berry Streets and launched our new motto: Drink better wine.
  • With twice the space of our old shop we expanded our range of products and services to ensure that we retained our status as one of the best independent wine retailers in Australia.
  • Because we've always believed in "try before you buy", we were the first bottleshop in Australia to install an Italian Enomatic professional wine tasting machine that gives our customers the chance to taste 32 perfectly preserved wines any time they visit the store.
  • In December 2008 we put our money where our mouth is and opened a café and wine bar - The Oasi - which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a casual setting with seating for 120 either on the terrace overlooking Miller Street or in the midst of our wine cellar.
  • The perfect venue in the heart of North Sydney for meetings and events!
  • Open 7 days and in addition to a wide range of wine, beer, spirits, soft drinks and snacks we sell Riedel glassware and a deli selection of fantastic cheeses, dips, breads, olive oils, and cured meats.
